The Steady Westerly album is a very special milestone for me as a producer and writer. James Fox gave me room to run with my own ideas about what I wanted our music to sound like. At this point in time James was able to get all of his music equipment in one place at the same time so we had a more stable and creative enviroment to record and write in than we had for the Escape Velocity album. By this time I had started developing my own recording outfit at home so I was able to bring compositions to the table that were more developed ahead of time. I had also taken more time to develop my ability to play multi-instruments such as acoustic and electric guitar, percussion, keyboards and drum programing instead of just bass like on Escape Velocity.
Overall, these factors resulted in a very diverse album with a lot of different textures and sounds. I am very proud of the Steady Westerly album. The experiences and instruction provided by James Fox during it's production helped me to realize my full potential as a more well rounded musician and has helped me to be able to create the Bernie Rogers albums demonstrated on this website.
